31 Nights of Halloween: The Mime 5

The Mime is the second-best series from the twisted mind of writer/director Alex Magana, with The Smiling Woman being well ahead of the completion.. The Mime is giving the haunted yellow dress a run for its money, though...and with The Mime 5, the silent and prone to overreacting street performer has matched The Smiling Woman at her creepiest. This one is a solid 10 out of 10 stars!

The Mime 5

Starring: Isabella Moore and Lindsey Shelton

Director: Alex Magana

Rating: Ten of Ten Stars

(As much as I enjoyed The Mime 5, I am starting to think that Magana, once in a while, needs to give us a surprise ending where the victim in his story does not die in the end. He's come close to it in a couple of films, but it might be even more horrifying to leave a victim alive and suffering every now and then.

31 Nights of Halloween: The Mime 2

Alex Magana is back for a second time this year! We're just going to make it official and declare Magana Mondays for the entirely of the 31 Nights of Halloween!

The Mime 2 (2022)
Starring: Orion Smith and Isabella Moore

Director: Alex Magana

Rating: Seven of Ten Stars

A commuter (Smith) comes to regret slighting a street-performing mime (Moore).

"The Mime 2" sees writer/director Alex Magana returning to a familiar set-up: An unfortunate Normie encounters a wrathful or inscrutable supernatural being on a deserted railway platform late at night. And it's a fine return to his old stomping ground. (As with most films this short, the more I say, the more likely I am to ruin the freaky spookiness of the piece... so I will stop typing and instead just recommend you click below. I assure you that, by the end, you will think twice about not tipping performers, as well as catching that late-night train.)

31 Nights of Halloween: The Mime

During the 31 Nights of Halloween, masked fiends, killer clowns, and mysterious mimes are everywhere. The mime in tonight selection is so mysterious, and featured in a film so well put together that I didn't know where it was headed until it got there. And when I did finally see what was coming, I was squirming in my seat and saying, "What's about to happen isn't what I think it is, is it?"

It was. And it did. And the timing of the sudden cut-to-black at the end made it all that more disturbing and horrifying.

Check out tonight's extremely well put together short film about one woman's fateful encounter with a mime. Everything about this one is perfect.

The Mime (2018)

Starring: Amelia Gardham and Joseph Adelakun

Director: Dan Allen

Rating: Ten of Ten Stars
